How Do We Help Students Break the Cycle of Overwhelm, Stress, Anxiety, and Depression?
- Approximately 1 in 5 youth aged 13–18 (21.4%) experiences a severe mental disorder at some point during their life. For children aged 8–15, the estimate is 13%. (NIMH)
- Half of all chronic mental illness begins by age 14; three-quarters by age 24. Despite effective treatment, there are long delays—sometimes decades—between the first appearance of symptoms and when people get help. (ARCHPSYC)
- Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the U.S., and the 2nd leading cause of death for people aged 10–34. (NIMH)
Motivational Mental Health Speaker
Richie Contartesi contemplated suicide after he was diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia, his parents got divorced, and then failed 5th grade. He understands what it feels like to deal with stress, anxiety, depression and even suicidal thoughts.
Before he made that forever decision, he went on the internet and looked up the academic requirements to play college football, his childhood dream. And his life changed forever. For once in his life he had a goal, a purpose, and a vision. Twelve years later he turned that one passion into a full D1 football scholarship at Ole Miss standing a staggering 5’7″ and a hefty 150 pounds.
He went on to play Arena Professionally, wrote a #1 Best Seller, opened a franchising 24/7 functional fitness facility, and now travels the country helping other students overcome their challenges so they can excel in their lives. Finding his purpose changed Richie's life and now he helps the future generation improve theirs by sharing actionable takeaways, humor, and his real life emotional stories students will never forget.
Students leave Richie’s program encouraged, empowered, and ready to succeed.
